no sound after new drive ??
The error I usually get is "device is being used by another app"; in Vegas (my video non-linear editor program ) it doesn't recognize my card at all and want to select "modem 0" even though there is no modem installed and "Control Panel/Sounds and Audio Devices " reports "No Audio Device" as well.

mmsystem262 and no audio CDs
My computer system has on board sound chips (VIA supersouth 686a)which work great so far for every sound application except WMP program. I have tried WMP6, WMP7 etc and each time I get either no sound icon or no sound card/ hardware error. I have found no options to tweak the program to recognize my on board sound.
