Puzzled by a VCR no sound
The drivers for it load properly, I can see it in the system tab working fine under sound and game devices or whatever, but in windows I get no sound! This is not a matter of having cords plugged in wrong or anything, there is no little speaker in the system tray and when I try to play audio I get a message that

DVDR has good video but no audio
I recently upgraded to Windows XP on my computer and now I can no longer receive audio sound. It tells me that I have no audio device installed, but I have been receiving audio with my old Windows 98, prior to upgrading to Windows XP. Is my sound card no longer compatible with XP? I cannot find my sound card disk.

Have you checked the finished capture to see if audio is there? as it does not have sound during capture. Firewire carries all the signal, so you need nothing else. I bought a cable that has RCA jacks on one end (for my cable box) and the 1/4" audio jack on the other. Everything "fits," and I'm confident that I plugged the 1/4" jack into the tuner card, because it's right next to the S-Video socket. But no sound. Not a peep. Does that help? Any thoughts? A problem with Realtek HD Audio
I click "Call" on the GC site, and gizmo rings an incoming call (interestingly, no caller ID...). I can answer it fine. I've also had reports from the people I'm calling that they get a call with my GC #, but no sound coming through. I can't hear any ringing, or anything at all. They can't hear me.
